It’s part of English culture to cheat. It’s deeply embedded into them from an early age. It partly comes down to living in Bolton and other depressing cities. You got to fight and cheat for everything when it’s dog eat dog.
When people say “how can he respect himself?” he doesn’t care, none of them do. It’s a win at all costs attitude. If an English player gets a slight kick in the penalty box and doesn’t go down for a foul, he will be reprimanded by his teammates, his coach and his countrymen.
Remember that we shouldn’t expect them to adhere to our beliefs and values, because they are different from us culturally.
